New Expander

Construction of our new large expander is now complete.  In the past, coils more than 30" high or 60" long were expanded by using a flex-pander and brazing return bends at both ends of the coil.  Using this process we expanded two tubes at a time, which was slow and labor intensive.  Our new expander is able to expand a coil up to 50" high by 130" long and up to 8 rows deep in a single stroke.  Because we are able to use hairpins on these coils, the number of braze joints are reduced by 50% resulting in less opportunity for a leaks and reduced fluid pressure drop.

Below are photos or our new expander in action.  When it is not being used to expand very large coils, it can be used to expand several smaller coils at the same time.
